Leeds United, on Thursday early afternoon, announced their completed deal for young English midfielder, Lewis Bate, from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.

Lewis Bate’s penned deal will see him stay at Elland Road until 2024, having signed a three-year deal with the club.

Leeds United are pleased to announce the signing of Lewis Bate. The midfielder joins the Whites from fellow Premier League side Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.

Bate, who attracted interest from a number of clubs, has penned a three-year-deal at Elland Road, running until the summer of 2024.

Bate becomes Leeds’ fifth signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Junior Firpo, Jack Harrison, Sean McGurk and Amari Miller.

The 18-year-old Lewis Bate comes with huge reviews

Following a fantastic youth showing for Chelsea’s young side, there were a number of Premier League clubs interested in signing the player.

Last season he made 20 appearances for the Blues in the Premier League 2 Division 1, 18 of those being starts. He is yet to make a goal contribution but his goalscoring ability is certainly not what has caught the eye of many clubs out there.

Chelsea named Bate a “combative midfield player” with “an eye for a defence-splitting forward pass”. He sadly never got the chance to represent Chelsea at the top level despite being involved in the youth setup for the past 10 years.

He has been the captain of his side at both, club level and international level; he featured for England’s Under-17s and Under-18s. He is undoubtedly a signing for the future and will not walk straight into the starting XI.

He becomes the fifth, new summer arrival for the Elland Road outfit. Prior to Lewis Bate’s inclusion to the Whites’ roster, they have already added Junior Firpo, Jack Harrison, Sean McGurk and Amari Miller.
