Leeds United: Adam Pope discusses Oliver Casey’s future

BBC commentator Adam Pope has been speaking on the latest edition of The Athletic’s The Phil Hay Show about Oliver Casey’s future amid talk of a move to Blackpool.

Leeds’ all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

The 20-year-old centre-back has the likes of Liam Cooper and Diego Llorente ahead of him and hasn’t played a first-team league game since his debut in December 2019.

So, it looks like he will be leaving Elland Road and Pope provided an update on his future.

He said: “I’d be very surprised if that didn’t happen. Oli Casey, from my understanding, over the last few weeks, [has] been quite clear that he wants to get regular football.

“He wants to go and get a good level of football. Blackpool have come up into the Championship.

“So I see that one happening, I really do. Are Leeds going to stand in the way of a player that wants to go and play somewhere else? I don’t think so.”

Do you think Casey should go?

Yes, it is his time to go

TIF Thoughts on Casey…

The 20-year-old has been in Marcelo Bielsa’s matchday squad on 25 occasions since his debut and did play against Crawley Town in the FA Cup in January, but apart from that, he has really struggled to break into the first team.

Therefore, we think this move to Blackpool would be good for him and could allow him to play regular Championship football, which considering he is just 20, wouldn’t be too bad for his career.

Clearly, Pope thinks this deal is going to happen, and we see no reason why the Whites would try and keep Casey at the club if he isn’t going to be involved in the first team.
