The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) looks to remain unbeaten in 2022 when they visit crosstown rival, the Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, April 9 at 4:30 p.m. PT at . (TV: FOX / FOX Deportes; Radio: 710 AM ESPN/ESPN app and 980 AM La Mera La Mera)
LAFC is 4-0-1 (13 points) this season after defeating Orlando City 4-2 on Saturday, April 2 at Exploria Stadium.
NEWS & NOTES:
LAFC faceoff vs. Galaxy for the first time in 2022 and the 14th time in regular season play.
Carlos Vela and Javier Hernandez can faceoff for the first time during an LA Derby and it will be their first match against each other since the Europa League match between Real Sociedad and Manchester United on October 23, 2013.
Ilie Sánchez to face former Barcelona B teammate, Víctor Vásquez.
LAFC is now undefeated after five games for the third time in the club’s five-year history. LAFC also was unbeaten through the first five games of 2019 and 2020.
Forward Kwadwo “Mahala” Opoku notched his second goal MLS career goal to secure the 4-2 win vs. Orlando on April 2. Mahala now has scored two goals in three games played.
Midfielder Ilie Sánchez notched his first LAFC goal, giving LAFC the 3-2 lead vs. Orlando on April 2, 2022. Sánchez’s goal marked his 8th MLS regular season goal and 10th All-Time MLS career goal.
Jesus Murillo scored the first goal of his MLS career in the first half vs. ORL on April 2, 2022.. Murillo scored the game-tying goal for the MLS All-Stars in the 2021 MLS All-Star Game.
Carlos Vela assisted on the first LAFC goal of the game vs. Orlando on April 2, and now has 61 goals and 37 assists in 91 regular season games with LAFC. Both of which are club records.
