Kylian Mbappe’s contract situation and subsequent potential move to Real Madrid has been treated as a foregone conclusion by many, but may not be so cut and shut after all.
Real Madrid had two bids knocked back in the dying hours of the summer transfer window in 2021, and with Mbappe’s contract with Paris Saint Germain expiring in the summer of 2022, it was widely anticipated he would complete a free transfer to Los Blancos come the end of this season.
However, speaking to French media on Sunday, Mbappe himself claimed that his decision was not yet made.
‘No, my decision on the future isn’t made. Playing vs Real Madrid in Champions League changes a lot of things’, Mbappe told Prime Video.
‘Even if I’m free to do what I want at the moment, I’m not going to go and talk to the opponent or do that kind of thing’, he added.

PSG hatch transfer plan
PSG meanwhile, are willing to compromise, according to reports in France.
Le10 Sport report that they are desperate for Mbappe to still be a PSG player come the World Cup, with the French Club’s Qatar owners wanting to show off the best PSG players at their home World Cup in Novemeber.
As a result, they are suggesting a short term contract for the Frenchman, that would see him play in the tournament as a PSG star, before being sold in the summer of 2023 to Real Madrid.
Should this happen, and Mbappe and co. were to thwart Florentino Perez’s plan, reports suggesting that they have given up on landing Erling Haaland this summer may prove wide of the mark.
