Kurt Zouma will be missed and deserves massive respect from Chelsea fans – Talk Chelsea

So his deal to join West Ham is not done yet, but it looks very probable at the time of writing this.

So it is time to start reflecting on Kurt Zouma leaving Chelsea, after being at the club for 7 years now. Whatever your opinions of his ability are, he demands and should get our massive respect for his time at Chelsea.

I think he is a fantastic defender, one of the best around, and he is even under rated on the ball. However, I totally understand he doesn’t quite fit the type of defender playing in a 3 that Thomas Tuchel wants, and there are certainly better ball-playing defenders out there and at Chelsea ahead of him in the ranks. So I totally understand Tuchel wanting to sell him, and I totally understand Zouma moving on, the time is right.

But what he brings to this squad and the atmosphere in camp will be hugely missed. If you talk to anyone close inside the club they will all say the same thing, Zouma is one of the happiest and morale-boosting players in the camp and he always has a beaming smile on his face. THAT will be missed, as will his qualities on the pitch, his aerial presence and goals from corners, and his excellent last ditch defending.

But most of all it will be his overall influence in the camp helping keep the spirits high, and he has made a lot of close friends at Cobham amongst the staff, and all the current players adore him.

So make no mistake, Zouma’s departure will be a sad affair, but one I totally understand and probably needs to happen now for all parties involved.

But put some respect on his name. I don’t want to see any abuse, or any hear disrespect for his time at here, he’s been a fantastic servant to the club.

On a side note, as I don’t want to give idiots too much air time again this week, but the abuse he got from some who thought he was refusing to join West Ham and stalling that deal this week, is absolutely disgusting and again, these people are NOT Chelsea fans.

Good luck Kurt ‘Happy’ Zouma!
