Kepa Arrizabalaga proving he’s turned a corner right at the perfect time – Talk Chelsea

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga could still prove to be a massive part of Chelsea’s season and a real asset in their title push.

This is of course because he will be spending the most part of January and some of February as Chelsea’s number one stopper in the absence of Edouard Mendy, who will be away at the African Cup of Nations with Senegal.

It would be amazing if you guys subscribed for my project over at Si & Dan Talk Chelsea, where we are putting out so much Chelsea content including DAILY Newsletters, exclusive news, breaking news, Podcasts, interviews, inside information, and bringing in some massive guests!

Kepa could help Chelsea make or break their season through a number of key games that could be pivotal for the title race and a number of other competitions that The Blues will be hoping to still be competing for.

In the game against Southampton on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup, it genuinely felt Kepa had turned a corner in his Chelsea career and he certainly gave me, as well as many other Chelsea fans, some confidence going into the period where he will become our number one goalkeeper.

It wasn’t just for his saves and vital penalty save in the shootout. It was more for how he mentally reacted to making an error that lead to Southampton’s equaliser.

The old Kepa would have kept his head dropped and been a mess for the rest of the game. But mistakes happen, and this Kepa immediately lifted his chin, got on with the game, and proceeded to make a number of match saving games to take Chelsea into penalties. Then not only that, he saved a key penalty from Theo Walcott to make sure Chelsea won the tie and went through to the next round of the competition.

This was very encouraging to see and despite the error, it left me feeling a little more confident for when Mendy does depart for a short time.
