Kwara United lost 5-4 on penalties to second division side Kebbi United after their match ended 1-1 in regulation time. The Afonja Warriors are the latest NPFL team to be sent packing, following the footsteps of Rangers, Akwa United and Warri Wolves.
The Round of 16 of the competition is set to hold on July 14th with all matches taking place simultaneously. Defending champions Kano Pillars have been drawn against NNL side Kebbi United as Katsina United will take on Gombe United in a regional derby match. Plateau United will lock horns with Nasarawa United in one of the all-NPFL clashes, and Gateway United will do battle with Wikki Tourists. Green Beret FC will face Sunshine Stars, while Abia Warriors will face Niger Tornadoes. Heartland and Rivers United will face off in the other all-NPFL clash, and Bayelsa United will face Lobi Stars.
