Liverpool are off to a flying start in the Premier League this season and are sharing the top spot with their rivals Chelsea – who are considered to be the favorites to win the league. Despite being linked with Jude Bellingham, The Reds haven’t signed any midfielder.
The Reds are still considered “underdogs” by experts given their reluctance to spend big in the summer transfer window to replace the likes of Gini Wijnaldum and Xherdan Shaqiri.
Liverpool were linked with a number of players during the summer, and there are a few weak spots where manager Jurgen Klopp needs to strengthen to compete for the league title.
Klopp should break a decade-long trend of not signing players from his former club Borussia Dortmund and go all out to sign central midfielder Jude Bellingham – who is considered to be “an ideal Liverpool fit”.
The Merseyside giants are currently on the verge of going through another injury hit phase. According to This is Anfield, the Reds have officially confirmed that Thiago, Naby Keita and Harvey Elliott will be sidelined for upcoming fixtures.
Liverpool luckily have aging James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to compete for the midfield spot. The Reds will be facing Manchester City next weekend.
Elliot’s long term injury is set to keep him out for the season and sadly we are all aware of how injury prone Keita and Thiago have been over the last 12 months.
Since FSG have promised to spend big next year, the Reds should go all out for Bellingham. The 18-year-old English midfielder is reported to be valued over £80 million by the North Rhine-Westphalia.
Bellingham’s season kicked off with a few stunning goals in the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League. It is no wonder why top clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City have been heavily linked with the teenage sensation.
Klopp should make a brave decision by finally breaking his decade-long trend and convince Liverpool to seal the deal for the youngster in the January transfer before other clubs start sniffing in the summer transfer window next year.
Should Liverpool go all out for Jude Bellingham this mid-season or next summer?
