On the power play for about 80 minutes as Yared Bayeh saw red card in the 12th minute, Cape Verde could have won brilliantly. But their end of half-time goal was sufficient to collect their first three points.
The Ethiopians were well organized in the second half against their opponents’ attacks. But they were able to level the scoring untill the final whistle.
Cape Verde will face Burkina Faso next Thursday during their second game, while Ethiopia will take on hosts Cameroon.
