“I’ve got Timo Werner here, Chelsea and Germany’s goalkeeper”– Sky F1 reporter appalling identification of Chelsea’s superstar

“I’ve got Timo Werner here, Chelsea and Germany’s goalkeeper”– Sky Sports’ Formula 1 reporter Natalie Pinkham’s awkward blunder.

On Sunday, the Austrian Grand Prix concluded with a sensational race, and Max Verstappen grabs his fifth race win of the year to extend his lead to 32 points against Lewis Hamilton in the drivers’ championship.

Verstappen stole the show in front of his Orange Army, and amidst all of them, Chelsea’s superstar Timo Werner also made an appearance, but he got a rather awkward introduction.

After the race, Sky Sports F1 reporter Natalie Pinkham before interviewing him about his experience of the race identified him as Chelsea and Germany’s goalkeeper, but his role for his country and club is in the extreme opposite.

“I’ve got Timo Werner here. Chelsea and Germany’s goalkeeper. How are you?” asked Pinkham to Werner. The 25-year-old footballer didn’t correct her and preferred to answer the question.

“It’s my third Grand Prix, I went two times to Germany before and every time it is something special,” he told Sky Sports. “To see the cars normally on TV and now to watch them from two meters away is something very special.”

Immediate response by fans

This blunder by Pinkham received an immediate reaction from F1 and football fans, who were shocked by this error at work. And expectedly made memes out of it.

However, moments after the mistake by Pinkham, she went on to play along with her trolling online and bantered about Werner confirming his position swap.
