Chelsea later announced that the deal was a one-season long loan spell. Although an option to buy, an obligation to buy, and an additional year were all discussed. Reports from 90mins indicate that the two clubs came to an agreement on a straight one-year loan for the center-forward, with Inter paying an €8m fee that could rise to €10m with add-ons.
The reports indicate that Lukaku’s desire to return to Inter saw him take a pay cut to help him overcome an Italian tax issue that had complicated matters.
