Manchester United’s 4-0 thrashing of Everton at Old Trafford may not have have any points riding on it, but it did send a huge message to the rest of the Premier League.

The Red Devils carried out their transfer business early, pulling off the spectacular signings of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for a combined £116 million.

It was the high-profile, elite business United fans had become accustomed to – now they are hoping the glory days will come with it.

Goals from Mason Greenwood, Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, and a stupendous free-kick from Bruno Fernandes brought Old Trafford to their feet.

However, Sancho’s arrival has cast doubt over the future of some players, and according to The Sun, United could be set to sell Anthony Martial to Inter Milan.

Martial’s future looks more uncertain with Sancho’s arrival

The Frenchman has had periods of brilliance at Old Trafford, but it appears his lack of consistency has not earned the trust of Solskjaer.

He has found the net 55 times in 167 Premier League appearances, but his future with continues to appear uncertain.

Inter Milan have allegedly expressed a firm interest in the 25-year-old striker, who see him as the perfect replacement for Romelu Lukaku who is nearing a return to Chelsea.

However, it is believed it would require a bid of around £50 million to convince United to part with Martial.

This could be a stumbling block for the reigning Serie A champions who are undergoing many financial struggles due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

There are also conversations between the clubs about the possibility of Simone Inzaghi’s side taking the French striker on a season long loan, with an option to buy at the end of the spell.
