Inside Ciaran Dickson’s Rangers to Celtic switch as B team boss insists youngster ‘has the personality’ to handle move

Celtic B boss Tommy McIntyre insists Ciaran Dickson is a big enough character to handle the scrutiny of his switch from Rangers to Parkhead.

The 19-year-old lined up for the reserve side in their SPFL Trust Trophy clash against Morton this weekend, announcing his arrival with a goal.

The strike wasn’t enough to stop the Hoops falling to a 3-1 defeat against Ton in Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium as they bowed out of the competition.

Dickson previously made a first-team appearance under Steven Gerrard in a League Cup clash against Falkirk, coming on as a second-half substitute.

But he’s opted to cross the Glasgow divide in a similar manner to Liam Burt, now of League of Ireland side Bohemians.

And Celtic B’s McIntyre said: “He’s got the personality to handle the move.

“I don’t want to go too much on Ciaran but there have been players in the past on either side who have done that.

“Ciaran made an impact but we need to be careful with him. He’s just come in and I thought he did well. He will get better and better.

“He’s a top player and will be a big acquisition for us. But he’s just come in and we need to give him a bit of time to settle.”
