BUENOS AIRES, March 6 (Xinhua) — Matias Cocarro scored late as Huracan secured a surprise 1-0 win at Boca Juniors in Argentina’s Primera Division on Sunday.
Cocarro broke the deadlock in the 70th minute by heading into the top-left corner after a Franco Cristaldo corner.
The result lifted Huracan to third in the 14-team Group B standings with nine points from five matches, a point ahead of fourth-placed Boca.
It marked Huracan’s first victory at La Bombonera since May 2010.
Earlier, Newell’s Old Boys scored twice on either side of halftime en route to a 4-0 home victory over Atletico Tucuman.
Juan Garro, Nicolas Castro, Ramiro Sordo, and Nazareno Funez were all on target for the hosts, who rose to sixth place in Group A with nine points from five outings. Atletico Tucuman slid to 11th.
In other Primera Division fixtures on Sunday, Estudiantes drew 1-1 at Velez Sarsfield and Defensa y Justicia clinched a 3-2 win at Banfield.
