Fulham have signed Harry Wilson and Paolo Gazzaniga to bolster their squad ahead of the 2021-22 Sky Bet Championship season.
Wilson joins Fulham on a permanent transfer from Liverpool for a reported £12m fee after signing a five-year contract, which could see him stay at Craven Cottage until June 2026.
Gazzaniga meanwhile has joined on a free transfer after being released by Tottenham Hotspur last month following the conclusion of his contract.
Wilson’s move brings to his 16 year stint at Anfield to an end after graduating through the Reds’ Academy, yet made just two senior appearances in all competitions amidst four loan spells within EFL at Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County and Cardiff City respectively.
The 24 year-old also spent 2019-20 season playing Premier League football on loan at Bournemouth, where he scored seven goals in 35 appearances across all competitions for the Cherries as they suffered relegation to the Championship.
Speaking to FFCtv following completion of his transfer, Wilson revealed that he was “delighted” to join the Cottagers after speaking to Fulham manager, Marco Silva, as he “loved” Silva’s plans and felt that the Portuguese boss “understood me as a player”.
Fulham are chasing a return to the top flight after suffering relegation last season and Wilson admitted that challenge played a part in his decision to sign for the club, commenting: “The ambition of the Club to get back into the Premier League appealed to me as that’s where we all want to be.”
Gazzaniga meanwhile makes the switch across London after having made 60 appearances in English Football for Tottenham and Southampton, amidst two separate stints in Spain with Rayo Vallecano and Elche.
Speaking on his decision to stay in London as he switches to Craven Cottage and drops down to the Championship for the first time, Gazzaniga said: “I love the challenge and I think this is an excellent opportunity for me.
“When they spoke of the project here at Fulham the decision was easy. The Championship is a very strong league and I am looking forward to getting started.”
Fulham Director of Football Operations, Tony Khan added that he is “delighted” to sign both Wilson and Gazzaniga, with belief that both players will help to “greatly strengthen” the club’s attack and goalkeeping departments.
Both players could make their competitive debuts for Fulham in their first Sky Bet Championship clash of the new campaign on Sunday 8 August, as the Cottagers host Middlesbrough at Craven Cottage, live on Sky Sports.
