Croatian club Hajduk Split have been beaten by Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes 1-0 today in the second leg of their 3rd round UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier.

Despite the loss, Hajduk Split advance through to the UEFA Europa Conference League playoff on aggregate 3-2 after they won the first leg 3-1 in Split.

Brazilian striker Anderson Silva put the home side ahead in just the 5th minute when his Hajduk keeper Lovro Kalinić could only parry his long range shot into the back of the net.

The first half would turn out to be a feisty would both sides receiving a number of yellow cards.

Vitoria Guimaraes could not find a second goal which would send the tie into extra-time as the Hajduk defence stayed resolute. The visitors would create some half-chances themselves in the second spell with Markoo Livaja coming closest when he just failed to get his head on a Stipe Biuk cross.

Hajduk Split now face Spanish side Villarreal in the playoff.

The first leg will be played in Spain on Thursday, 18th of August, with the return leg a week later on Thursday, August 25th in Split at Poljud stadium.
