Zambia’s Green Buffaloes and Black Rhinos Queens from Zimbabwe are all set to get their CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying campaign underway in South Africa this afternoon.

The match, for the three-member group which also comprises TURA Magic from Namibia, will take place at King Zwelithini Stadium in the coastal city of Durban.

Line-ups for both teams are out. Defender Atness Phiri and forward Maylan Mulenga look set to lead Buffaloes whereas Mpofu and Chibanda are among top Rhinos players to watch.

Games are being played behind closed doors due to Covid-19 preventive measures.

Group A has four teams and they opened the floor with matches played yesterday, Thursday, at the same venue.

South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies thumped their Lesotho Defence Force counterparts 6-0 on Thursday afternoon, hours after Double Action from Botswana had hammered Manzini Wanderers from Eswatini 3-0.

In an earlier match marking the start of the tournament, Double Ladies Action thrashed Wanderers with Laona Moloi, Lesego Radiakanyo and Gaonyadiwe Ontlametse the scorers.

The Cosafa region overall champion will qualify for the Women’s Champions League finals, joining other teams from other CAF zones later this year.
