Brighton & Hove Albion’s preparations for the new season have continued with an impressive 1-0 pre-season friendly victory over Bayern Munich at the FC Bayern Campus earlier today.
Katie Robinson netted the only goal after just three minutes in Germany as The Seagulls recorded a pretty impressive result against a Bayern Munich side containing plenty of talent.
The hosts did go into the match without a handful of players who have featured heavily at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, however, their team still contained a number of stars. Saki Kumagai, Maximiliane Rall, Jovana Damnjanović, Linda Dallmann and Sarah Zadrazil were all named in the starting XI.
Despite the quality of the Bayern Munich side, it was Brighton & Hove Albion who broke the deadlock after three minutes through Robinson.
Bayern Munich’s best chance of the first half fell to Zadrazil who rattled the bar while Damnjanović also went close.
The hosts pushed for the equaliser in the second half and Rall fired narrowly wide 10 minutes in before Ivana Rudelić was forced wide by Brighton & Hove Albion’s substitute goalkeeper Katie Startup later in the game.
The Barclays Women’s Super League side continued to defend resolutely to see out the game and secure a really impressive result in their pre-season programme.
