FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (10-3-3; 33 pts.) will visit the New York Red Bulls (5-6-3; 18 pts.) on Saturday, July 31 for a 6:00 p.m. ET kickoff at Red Bull Arena. The match airs locally on WSBK-TV38 and myRITV, as well as on the radio on 98.5 The Sports Hub and 1260 AM Nossa Radio. Out-of-market subscribers can stream the match live on ESPN+.
The first-place Revolution are in search of a fourth consecutive win after collecting nine points in a nine-day span last week, outscoring opponents by an 8-1 margin. New England most recently topped CF Montreal at home with a 2-1 win on July 25 behind two goals from Gustavo Bou. The three-win week lifted New England to the top-overall spot in MLS with 33 points, the club’s highest-ever total through 16 games. The Revolution – the only club with double-digit victories this season – have fared well on the road with a 4-2-3 mark, only two wins shy of the team’s single-season record for away victories. The Revs’ 16 away goals are most in MLS by a margin of four, while Bou (T-1st – 5) and forward Adam Buksa (T-3rd – 3) rank among the league’s top scorers on the road.
Bou registered his first regular-season brace in MLS in Sunday’s win to move into a tie for the third in the MLS Golden Boot race with nine goals. The Argentinian striker is the most in-form forward in MLS, with eight tallies in his last nine appearances. Bou has dominated the Red Bulls with four goals and one assist in four career games against New York. He is one goal away from reaching double-digit goals for the first time in his three-year MLS career.
Carles Gil and Arnór Traustason each logged an assist in Sunday’s win. Gil continues to lead MLS with 13 helpers on the season as he picked up his sixth game-winning assist of the year, already a club record and two away from tying the MLS single-season mark. As the season hits the halfway point on Saturday, the Spaniard is well on his way to setting a new club record (19) for assists in a campaign. His service has also helped New England set a pace to challenge the club’s single-season record for goals scored (55).
New England’s defense has been stout during this three-game winning streak, having conceded only one goal in the last 336 minutes dating back to July 7. Goalkeeper Brad Knighton, suiting up for his fifth consecutive start, has amassed a 3-1-0 record on the season. The 15th-year pro owns a 2-2-1 career mark against the Red Bulls. Andrew Farrell, who has played every minute of the campaign in central defense, will climb another rung in the Revs’ record books as he records his 254th regular season start, tied with Matt Reis for second most in club annals.
The Revolution go into Red Bull Arena looking to complete the season sweep against New York, having already defeated the Red Bulls twice this season. New York sits in ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings after Sunday’s 1-0 loss at D.C. United, which snapped the Red Bulls’ four-game unbeaten streak. However, first-year head coach Gerhard Struber’s side carries an impressive 4-1-1 home record this season. New York has outscored opponents 9-2 over its six matches at Red Bull Arena. Forward Cristian Cásseres Jr. and midfielder Caden Clark lead the Red Bulls’ attack with four goals each, while goalkeeper Carlos Coronel has backstopped the defense with four clean sheets this season.
