Having seen the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final originally postponed due a number of reasons, the legs were reversed and Arsenal played out a 0-0 at Anfield. Yet at the weekend the Gunners couldn’t fulfil their Premier League north London derby clash, which has led to speculation that another delayed meeting between Arsenal vs Liverpool is on the cards.
However, the noises coming out of the Arsenal camp ahead of this week’s tie at the Emirates suggest it’s ‘game on’. A report via the Liverpool Echo states that it’s good news on the availability of key players such as Martin Odegaard, Kieran Tierney, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel, who are all clear to be passed fit.
With the semi-final finely poised, Arsenal, if they can put together an almost-full strength side will feel confident in-front of a home crowd of processing to meet Chelsea in the final. Liverpool will be short of their ‘big attacking weapons’ with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane away at the African Cup of Nations.
It was 2020 that Arsenal last defeated Liverpool 2-1 at the Emirates in the Premier League
