New Hertha Berlin head coach Felix Magath took charge of training for the first time on Thursday after hotel quarantine.

Ten days ago Hertha’s sporting director Tayfun Korkut announced Magath as the club’s successor to Fredi Bobic. However, two days before his first game Magath was a Covid-19 close contact and therefore was out of action for ten days.

As well as Magath’s return, the good news does not end there for fans of Hertha.

The club’s ultra group, Harlekins Berlin ’98 also announced that they will return to the stands for their upcoming games. This comes at a great time as their next two fixtures see Hertha travel to Bayer Leverkusen before returning home to host city rivals Union Berlin.

The ultras had stayed away from football stadiums during the pandemic due to access restrictions. This positive news along with last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Hoffenheim comes at a crucial time for Hertha as they try to avoid relegation to the 2. Bundesliga.
