FC Cincinnati Academy Residency Program Looking for Host Families

December 21, 2021 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – FC Cincinnati News Release

In June 2020, the FC Cincinnati Academy launched the Residency Program to support the club’s expansion of national youth recruiting to fill its five teams. The FCC Academy is currently looking for more host families to assist young members of the Orange and Blue.

“Our Residency Program has been vital to creating and cultivating a competitive professional academy,” said Dave Schureck, FC Cincinnati Academy Administrator. “The addition of high potential players to our strong Cincinnati based players allows us to develop a true professional atmosphere.”

The FCC Academy recruits players from across the country and internationally, which means residency needs are required to house out-of-market players who have moved to the Greater Cincinnati region to compete for the Orange and Blue.

“The Greater Cincinnati families that have been and are currently involved as host families are nothing short of amazing,” Schureck said. “As a result, we have several players from around the country that would love to be a part of our academy. We are now looking for more great families to be a part of our program.”

The Residency Program allows non-local Academy players to live with screened host families and attend local schools or on-line during the team’s training and competition season, which typically runs from early August through late June.

Host families receive $500.00/month for each player they host. In return, host families must provide three nutritious meals a day, a private bedroom for the Academy player, access to laundry, internet, television, and a safe family environment. More information can be found, HERE.

In 2021, two Homegrown Players from the FC Cincinnati Academy in Arquimides “Quimi” Ordonez and Beckham Sunderland earned roster spots on the senior team for the Orange and Blue. The goal for FC Cincinnati is to have this number continue to grow.
