Ex-Argentina midfielder D’Alessandro returns to Internacional

RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) — Former Argentina international midfielder Andres D’Alessandro has returned to Brazilian club Internacional as he extends his professional career to a 23rd year.

The 40-year-old signed a four-month contract that ties him to the Porto Alegre club until the end of the Rio Grande do Sul state championship.

“I hope to be able to help in the best way possible … and finish my playing career wearing the red jersey,” he told Internacional’s official website on Saturday.

D’Alessandro won 13 titles with Internacional from 2008 to 2020 before spending last year at Uruguayan club Nacional.

Capped 25 times for Argentina, the playmaker has also had spells at River Plate, Wolfsburg, Portsmouth, Zaragoza and San Lorenzo.
