Everton well in the mix to sign 30-goal striker also wanted by Arsenal, Newcastle

Everton are reportedly among several clubs in the mix to snap up prolific young West Brom striker Reyes Cleary this summer.

The 17-year-old notched his 30th goal of the season as the Baggies’ Under-23 side beat their QPR counterparts in the Premier League Cup. And Cleary’s remarkable season has prompted a host of top clubs to chase his signature.

Premier League interest comes from Everton, Arsenal, Southampton and Newcastle. The Daily Mail also reports that German giants Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen are keen, along with Austrian outfit RB Salzburg.

Cleary is yet to sign a new deal with the Albion, despite the club offering him one. That means he could soon be free to talk to other clubs, although the Baggies will be able to demand compensation should the player move on.

The teenager, despite his impressive form this season, is yet to feature for West Brom’s senior side. That decision may prove costly, if Cleary feels he has a better chance of shining elsewhere.

Cleary one for the future

The report adds that Toffees boss Frank Lampard sees the potential on offer and believes Cleary is a star of the future.

However, with so many clubs in the running, Everton have to ensure they preserve their top-flight status first.

The Goodison outfit are only one point from safety after their 5-0 mauling at Tottenham on Monday night.

Despite that, Lampard is clearly plotting for the future and feels that Cleary could have a big part to play.
