Everton: Richard Keys believes Chelsea goalkeeper could be perfect for Lampard

Presenter and journalist Richard Keys believes that Kepa Arrizabalaga would be a wise choice for Everton manager Frank Lampard to take on at Goodison Park.

Kepa has been snubbed to the bench over the past 18 months due to the introduction of Edouard Mendy at Stamford Bridge, despite the Spaniard being the most expensive goalkeeper ever.

Chelsea signed Kepa from Athletic Club for £71million but it hasn’t quite worked out for him at Stamford Bridge, and Keys believes that a move could be on the cards for the 27-year-old.

Writing on his personal blog, he wrote: “What chance Lampard goes back to Chelsea for Kepa? I would. I know Lampard didn’t fancy him at The Bridge, but he’s better than Pickford, Henderson or any other option you can think of that’s available right now. He’s also too good to be No.2 at Chelsea. Lampard knows him. Watch this space…”

TIF Thoughts on a switch to Everton for Kepa Arrizabalaga in the summer…

Kepa clearly has something to offer as a ‘keeper after he was signed by Chelsea for £71million and he is still just 27 years old, so still has plenty of time left in his career.

‘Keepers usually don’t hit their peak until later on and they tend have a longer career than outfielders. Therefore, Kepa could be a good signing for Lampard who could use his Chelsea connections to lure him into Goodison Park.

Jordan Pickford has come under criticism at times for Everton after he has made costly mistakes for his side, which inevitably as a goalkeeper, will lead to goals. It could be time for Everton to part ways from the current England No 1 if they want to progress as a club.

Pickford seems to be a completely different player for England, this may be down to wearing his heart on his sleeve more, or giving that extra 10% for his country. This could be further proof that Pickford would need a move away from Everton to get the motivation at club level that he has whilst on international duty. And Chelsea ‘keeper Kepa could be the perfect replacement.
