A driver who injured Rangers star Jermain Defoe after crashing into him has been fined.

James Turner, 25, drove dangerously in Balashgray Road, Jordanhill, Glasgow, last September.

Turner’s BMW M4 crossed a central reservation and collided with two vehicles on the opposing carriageway.

The Peugeot 308 and Land Rover Sport then collided with a Mercedes-Benz A 200.

Court papers state: “caused damage to said vehicles and injury to Jermain Defoe and Nicole Leonard.”

Defoe, 39, was in action that day having scored in a 5-0 win at Ibrox against Aberdeen.

A trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court was set to take place in January.

But, Turner, of East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, pled guilty in an accelerated hearing.

He was fined £370 and received four penalty points.
