July 30 – After nine years, Davor Sukor (pictured) has been removed as president of the Croatian FA, throwing into doubt his membership of UEFA’s executive committee.
Croatia’s all-time leading goalscorer, Sukor has been replaced by the federation’s former executive director Marijan Kustic.
Croatia reached the final of the 2018 World Cup in Russia but were eliminated by Spain at the recent Euros.
In his farewell speech, Šuker thanked those who worked with him but did not mention Kustić by name.
“I worked 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for Croatian football,” he said. “I am glad that as a player and president I was part of the greatest success in the history of Croatian football, and the national team under my leadership qualified for all four major competitions.”
