Darren Bent has said on Sky Sports News (12:32pm, August 14, 2021) that Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford will find it tougher this season.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa striker believes that the presence of fans at Elland Road will increase pressure on Leeds striker Bamford.

The Sky Sports pundit believes that Leeds fans will expect Bamford to repeat his heroics of last season in 2021-22.

Bent said about Bamford on Sky Sports News (12:32pm, August 14, 2021): “There was no criticism from the terraces, so you can just go about your business.

“The second season, you get marked a little bit tightly, and then the fans are thinking, ‘If you got 17 last season, you have got to do it again this season’. Again, the level of expectation goes up.”

Answering his critics

There were doubts on Bamford being able to score in the Premier League last season.

The Leeds striker scored 16 goals in the Championship in 2019-20, but there were suggestions that he misses too many chances.

The former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest striker – who cost Leeds £7 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018, as reported by Sky Sports – answered his critics last season by scoring 17 goals and providing seven assists in 37 Premier League starts.

You can be sure that Bamford will prove his doubters – if there are still any – wrong again this season.

Meanwhile, former West Ham United and Chelsea star Joe Cole has praised the permanent signing of Jack Harrison for Leeds, as you can see in the clip below.

The West Yorkshire club made Harrison’s loan deal from Manchester City permanent this summer.
