Danilho Doekhi in Rangers transfer claim as he suggests Ibrox club are monitoring his contract situation

Danilho Doekhi has claimed Rangers are ‘following’ his situation as he considers his future at Vitesse Arnhem.

The 23-year-old defender is out of contract in the summer and is attracting interest from a number of suitors.

With an extension at the Eredivisie club unlikely, Doekhi has been linked with a move to the Gers and Napoli.

He could be viewed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst as a possible replacement for Connor Goldson, should attempts to persuade the centre-back to sign a new deal prove unsuccessful.

Doekhi confirmed he would like to leave in the summer and said Rangers are one of several clubs monitoring his situation.

He told regional broadcaster Omroep Gelderland: “They follow me, but there are several clubs.

“The fans don’t have to worry about me leaving yet.

“But there are certainly things at play that you philosophise about yourself sometimes.

“As far as I know, no club has come knocking on Vitesse’s door yet.

“I’m not so much in favour of a winter transfer, but of a departure in the summer.”

Dinamo Zagreb are no longer in the race for the Dutchman, according to Doekhi.

“We have no contact with them anymore,” he said.
