BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) — Federico Coria progressed to the last 16 of the Argentina Open on Monday with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 win over Pablo Cuevas.
The 29-year-old Argentine, who is currently No. 65 in the world, took the match in one hour and 52 minutes against 96th-ranked Cuevas of Uruguay.
In the next round, Coria will meet Serb Dusan Lajovic, who saved three match points to beat France’s Benoit Paire 4-6, 6-4, 7-6.
In other duels on Monday, Miomir Kecmanovic defeated Laslo Dere 6-4, 1-6, 6-1, Fernando Verdasco overcame Hugo Dellien 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 and Francisco Cerundolo prevailed 7-5, 6-2 over Facundo Bagnis.
The Argentina Open, an ATP 250 event, is being played on the outdoor clay of the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.
