Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw says that she will remain level-headed and consistent in her approach to the game as she bids for another successful season with the club.
The 25-year-old Jamaican international forward has netted 21 goals in just 30 games in all competitions for The Cityzens since joining the club last summer.
Shaw got the new season off to a bang with a double against Tomiris-Turan in Manchester City’s 6-0 victory over the Kazakhstani club in a UEFA Women’s Champions League Round 1 semi-final tie last night.
When speaking to the club’s official media team after the match, Shaw said that she will remain focused and level-headed as she bids to enjoy a fruitful campaign on both a personal level and collectively with the Manchester City team.
“For sure (I’m looking forward to the season ahead), it is just about staying locked in and staying consistent,” Shaw said. “At the end of the day, you are going to have good and bad games.
“It is just about staying in the game, helping the team and working hard. Once I get that and the team win, that’s all that matters.”
Manchester City now look ahead to a UEFA Women’s Champions League Round 1 final against Real Madrid on Sunday. The Spanish club knocked The Cityzens out of Europe last season but Shaw believes that her team are ready to learn from their mistakes.
She added “For sure, it is going to be a very competitive game, we played them last year and they got the upper hand on us.
“It is just about learning from what happened and moving forward – try to get the win, focus on how we can play and what we can do best.”
Manchester City’s UEFA Women’s Champions League Round 1 final against Real Madrid kicks-off at 8pm on Sunday evening.
