BUENOS AIRES, July 12 (Xinhua) — River Plate have reached a deal with Junior Barranquilla to sign Colombia international striker Miguel Borja, the Argentine club said on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old will be tied to the Buenos Aires outfit until 2025 in a deal reportedly worth more than seven million U.S. dollars.
“A new story will be written,” River said in an Instagram post accompanied by images of Borja wearing the club’s shirt.
Borja’s signing comes four days after River parted ways with prolific forward Julian Alvarez, who joined Manchester City this week on a five-and-a-half-year deal.
Capped 27 times for Colombia’s national team, Borja has scored 16 goals in 27 matches across all competitions for Junior this year.
“I am grateful to be able to go to one of the best clubs on the continent,” Borja told reporters in Colombia before traveling to Argentina.
