Portland Timbers defender Claudio Bravo has been named to the U-23 Argentina Men’s National Team roster for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. It will be Bravo’s first time representing his country at the Olympics.
Bravo has made numerous appearances with the Argentine U-23 squad before, with 10 matches to his name. Bravo was also a part of the squad that recently won the 2020 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament.
The Argentine national has been a mainstay in the back line for Portland since officially joining the club earlier this year. He has made 14 appearances (all starts) with the Timbers so far this season, tallying one assist and playing tenacious defense.
Argentina will kick things off with a match on July 22 against Australia. They will compete in Group C with future matches set against Egypt on July 25 and Spain on July 28. For the full press release from the Timbers, click here.
