Chicago Fire FC to Conclude Three-Game Homestand against Columbus Crew on Sunday

CHICAGO – Chicago Fire FC will conclude its three-game homestand on Sunday, Aug. 15 at 5:00 p.m. against the Columbus Crew. Sunday’s match against the defending MLS Cup Champions will be broadcast on WGN-TV, CFFC Live and Latino Mix 93.5 FM.


Tickets to the game are available for purchase here. Following the contest against the Crew, the Fire will play six straight games on the road from Aug. 18-Sept. 19, marking the team’s longest road trip of the season.

The Fire (4-9-5, 17 points) enter the match unbeaten in their last three games, conceding just two goals in that stretch. Most recently, Chicago defeated the New York Red Bulls 2-1 at Soldier Field on Aug. 8. Midfielder Luka Stojanović provided both goals for the Fire in the first eight minutes and earned MLS Player of the Week honors for his performance.

Sunday’s game will mark the 70th all-time meeting between the Fire and the Crew, with Chicago leading the series with a 26-21-22 record. The two teams previously met on June 19 in the final game at Historic Crew Stadium, with Columbus taking a 2-0 victory. Chicago is unbeaten in its last seven matches at home (2-0-5) against the Crew dating back to March 19, 2016.

Columbus (6-6-6, 24 points) enters Sunday’s match on a three-game losing streak, conceding 11 goals in that span. Sunday’s game will mark the first of two straight road matches for the Crew, who are coming off a 3-2 home loss to Atlanta United FC. Midfielder Lucas Zelarayán leads the team in goals (six) and assists (three).
