CHICAGO – Chicago Fire FC (5-10-5, 20 points) fell 3-2 to Inter Miami CF (5-9-4, 19 points) at DRV PNK Stadium on Wednesday night.

Following a goal from Miami forward Indiana Vassilev in the 34th minute, the Fire would respond six minutes later off a corner kick. Midfielder Luka Stojanović swung in a corner and defender Francisco Calvo was able to head the ball past Nick Marsman to equalize (WATCH).


Chicago took the lead just three minutes into the second half. Capitalizing on a Miami turnover, forward Stanislav Ivanov slotted a ball near the penalty spot to Stojanović who confidently one-timed a shot into the back of the net to notch his team-high seventh goal of the season (WATCH).

Miami found the equalizer in the 62nd minute when forward Robbie Robinson scored at the edge of the six-yard box off a pass from Miami designated player Gonzalo Higuaín.

Substitute Rodolfo Pizarro scored the game-winning goal for the home team in stoppage time.

NEXT GAME: Chicago Fire FC will head north to face Orlando City SC on Saturday, Aug. 21 at Exploria Stadium. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m. CT on WGN-TV, CFFC Live and TUDN 1200 AM. NOTES:

Calvo notched his first goal of the season and his 10th career MLS goal.

Stojanović tallied his team-leading seventh goal of the season and tallied his second assist of the season. The Serbian midfielder has scored four goals in the team’s last three games.

Ivanov earned his first career MLS assist in his second start for the Fire.

Midfielder Gastón Giménez was named Heineken Man of the Match for his performance.

Midfielder Álvaro Medrán made his first appearance for the Fire since August 4. Medrán missed the last three matches due to health and safety protocols.
