Chelsea might well be having a quiet January as things stand, but they might actually being doing some other wise business for a later date.
According to reports today, as reported by The Sunday World, Chelsea are trying to agree a deal with Sevilla to sign centre back Jules Jounde now, but the agreement will not see him arrive at Stamford Bridge until the summer.

Signing big name players, or anyone at all for that matter, is always much more difficult in January. Clubs do not wish to lose their best players or disrupt the season, and you can totally understand why.
Which is why Chelsea trying to do this deal now makes perfect sense and is a very wise move. It’s something we should be looking to do with other long term targets as well as soon as possible.
If we can secure a deal for Kounde now, it not only gives us stability and security in the midst of potentially losing three of our own centre backs this summer, it also wards off interest from other clubs, which is bound to be growing by the day in players like Kounde and Aurelien Tchouameni, both said to be high on Chelsea’s shortlist for the summer.
So if I was Chelsea I’d be looking to agree deals for both Kounde and Tchouameni, just as we did for Hakim Ziyech recently.
I do hope this is something we pull off, at the very least for Kounde.
