Chelsea v Man City LIVE commentary: Emma Hayes’ Blues look to secure domestic double for second season running in Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley

Chelsea will be looking to secure the double when they face Manchester City in the Women’s FA Cup final live on talkSPORT this Sunday.

The Blues recorded their third-straight Women’s Super League title last weekend with a stunning final day victory over City’s rivals United.

Arsenal had genuine ambitions of pipping Emma Hayes’ side to domestic glory and recorded a 2-0 victory over West Ham..

However, they couldn’t do enough and could now watch in envy as Chelsea do a league and cup double for a second successive season.

But City will provide a stern test having secured a Champions League spot for next season following a 4-0 win at Reading.

The FA Cup final showdown will take place on Sunday, May 15 – the day after Chelsea’s men’s team take on Liverpool.

Chelsea v Man City: Team news

Chelsea almost have a fully fit squad to choose from, although Fran Kirby remains unavailable due to fatigue.

Kirby is back in individual training having not featured since February but the final may come too close for her to be involved.

As for City, Vicky Losada returned from injury against Reading and could be in contention to start.

However, Jess Park faces a race against time to be fit having sat out the club’s final game of the season as she continues her comeback.

This weekend’s clash is set to break records in terms of attendance for a Women’s FA Cup final.

The current mark was set when Chelsea beat Arsenal at Wembley in 2018 with 45,423 watching on.

Sunday’s match should smash that with the FA recently announcing that more than 50,000 tickets had already been sold.

Whilst focus is currently on the FA Cup, it’s the push to win the WSL title that Hayes has praised her side for in an interview with talkSPORT.

“We were chasing the whole season, we knew we didn’t get off to a good start and I think that challenge was one my team thrived on.” Hayes said.

“For whatever reason, they seemed to perform better in difficult moments, whether it’s going down to ten players, whether it’s losing to Arsenal first game of the season, whether it’s going 2-1 behind.

“And Erin Cuthbert said to me, we played in the first half like we had something to lose, and in the second half we played like we had everything to win.”

She continued: “Because we’ve been used to winning for such a long time, that challenge resonates the most with the group this year, and that’s why we’ve been victorious.”
