Chelsea talent to remain at Stamford Bridge and fight for Blues future | Shoot

Thomas Tuchel has been a revelation since being appointed Chelsea boss in January.

The German has not only put the Blues in pole position to secure a top-four finish, but he’s also guided them to both the FA Cup and Champions League finals.

Chelsea’s defensive solidity, which has seen them concede just six 11 in 25 matches under the German, has been the foundation of their success to date.

As well as improved displays across the backline, the midfield have also made a huge contribution to that impressive goals conceded stat.

Whether it’s been N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho or, more recently, Billy Gilmour taking up the two midfield places, all have offered real steel in the middle of the park.

Another player who seemingly wants to play in that role for the Blues is Conor Gallagher.

The 21-year-old has been on loan at relegated West Bromwich Albion this season, making 27 appearances in the Premier League.

Prior to that he spent the 2019/20 campaign with then Championship clubs Charlton Athletic and Swansea City.

Gallagher has caught the eye in those spells but, according to the Sun, he will reject loan interest from Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United in an attempt to break into Tuchel’s plans.

The England Under-21 international is highly-rated at Stamford Bridge but with so much competition for places it remains to be seen if he will be given a shot with the Blues next term.
