Chelsea could make another approach for Sevilla defender Jules Koundé in January, according to ESPN.
The Premier League club tried to sign the 23-year-old at the end of the summer transfer window with an offer of €50 million, which Sevilla declined.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel remains keen on the French international. His clause is €80 million, but Sevilla could let the player leave for a lower fee once sporting director Monchi has signed a replacement.
The La Liga club are now willing to negotiate a fee between €50 million and €60 million for a player with two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract.
One defender on Monchi’s list is Lille centre-back Sven Botman. Botman, who is 1.95m tall, has returned to action in recent weeks after almost two months on the sidelines with a groin injury.
