Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea side have started the German’s first full Premier League campaign promisingly, and sit in fourth place heading into game week four of the season.
The Blues coasted to a 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace on the opening day, before beating Arsenal 2-0 a week later.
They then followed up the two wins with a har-fought 1-1 drew at Anfield, a result made more respectable by the fact that they played more than half of the game with ten men after Reece James’ sending off.
Up next for Chelsea is the visit of Aston Villa on Saturday, with Tuchel set to make a number of changes after players’ involvement with the international break.
Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ben Chilwell and Saul Niguez could all be in line to make their first starts of the season.
The former, however, could apparently be on his way out of Stamford Bridge in the near future.
According to The Express, the German international is a target for reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
The 25-year-old is reportedly ‘talked about’ by those at Bayern and a move could be made during the next window.
Werner was on target for Germany during the World Cup qualifiers this week
Werner endured a difficult debut season for the Blues are signing from RB Leipzig for around £47 million in July 2020.
The striker scored just six league goals and a further five in other competitions, and has now fallen behind Romelu Lukaku in the pecking order for the number nine spot.
Werner is yet to start a game for the club this season, with fellow countryman Kai Havertz also keeping him out of the side.
During his last season in Bundesliga, Werner netted 28 goals for Leipzig, and would therefore be an enticing prospect for Bayern.
Robert Lewandowski is expected to depart the club next summer after apparently making clear his intentions to leave.
It is also reported that the German side rate their chances of one day signing Werner at around 70 percent.
A deal may be unlikely in January, however, as Werner still has just under four years remaining on his current deal and boss Tuchel is reportedly adamant that the player is part of his plans.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Werner has won the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup.
