Chelsea are leading the race to sign Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to Fabrizio Romano on his Podcast this week.

If I were Chelsea, and Tchouameni really is on our list of targets for the summer, I think it would probably be wise to bring that forward to January, purely because of the amount of injury and fatigue issues we are consistently having to deal with.
Saul Niguez clearly isn’t going to be good enough, so we need more quality in there.
We always seem to be without at least 2 key players per game, and then we need to take into account in December we will be playing ten games in four weeks. With injuries and fatigue, as well as the fact that it clearly appears that N’Golo Kante needs managing more and cannot play every game anymore, I would be going all out for Tchouameni in January.
He is the complete midfielder and can play deep or advanced, he is perfect to come in and slot in the 6 role in a double pivot for Chelsea, but he can also do the lone holding role as well if needs be.
We have a lot of midfielders in this squad, but the key is trying to have them all fit, and that is proving impossible right now. Also, if you have a chance to sign a player with the rising quality of Tchouameni and you are leading the race, you go and get that done now before any of the other big clubs come in for him, because they absolutely will.
