Celtic are set to make a move for Tottenham’s Cameron Carter-Vickers as they look to strengthen their defence, according to a report.
The centre back is set to leave Spurs this summer and Celtic have made contact with the Premier League outfit to sign him.
The USA international is valued at around £5m and Celtic would face competition from Newcastle and Bournemouth.
Carter-Vickers spent last season on loan at the Championship outfit as they narrowly missed out on promotion back to the Premier League.
The Daily Record say Carter-Vickers has just a year left on his deal and Celtic hope to persuade him to join Ange Postecoglou’s rebuild.
The Celtic Park boss is focusing on the centre back area and is also closing in on Carl Starfelt with the Rubin Kazan defender ready to join ahead of the Champions League qualifiers.
And it’s the chance of playing in that tournament that could persuade Carter-Vickers to make the move north.
The 23-year-old has made four first team appearances for Spurs, with all coming in the FA Cup or League Cup and he’s also spent time on loan at Sheffield United, Ipswich, Swansea, Stoke and Luton leaving him with extensive experience in the Championship.
