Barcelona’s attacking options have been further limited by the announcement Martin Braithwaite will undergo knee surgery.
Braithwaite, 30, missed this month’s international break with Denmark after he was removed in the 74th minute of his club’s 2-1 victory against Getafe in La Liga and a ‘three-four month’ absence has been predicted by SPORT. This means he has joined Sergio Aguero, Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati as being unavailable to head coach Ronald Koeman.
“The first-team player Martin Braithwaite has a femoropatellar injury in his left knee which has not responded to conservative treatment,” Barca said Monday.
“The Danish striker will undergo surgery in the coming days. The club will publish a new injury update when the process has taken place.”
Braithwaite began this campaign with two goals and an assist versus Real Sociedad.
