Borussia Dortmund have had plenty of time to consider an ideal replacement for Erling Haaland.
The imperious Norwegian looks certain to leave the Signal Iduna Park next season, when a £68m buy-out clause becomes active.
With five goals and four assists in his first four Bundesliga appearances this season, he is looking harder and harder to replace.
He has arguably become the most lethal centre-forward on the planet, having scored a sensational 66 goals in 66 appearances for the German giants.
Clubs will be queuing up around the corner to sign the precocious 21-year-old.
It appears Dortmund have accepted their fate, and according to German outlet Bild, they view Chelsea striker Timo Werner as the ideal replacement for Haaland if he leaves.
The German forward divides opinion in the footballing world.
While his goalscoring record and finishing statistics are not the best, his pace and ability to assist has endeared him to many.
His darting run in last season’s Champions League final created the space for Kai Havertz to round Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson and finish.
However, Werner was mercurial in the Bundesliga for RB Leipzig.
Before signing for Chelsea for £47m, he scored a remarkable 28 goals in 34 Bundesliga appearances.
His pace in behind in combination with his elite finishing made him one of the outstanding forwards on the planet that season.
While his shooting boots continue to elude him, his pace, intensity, and clever movements continue to benefit the club.
The arrival of Romelu Lukaku for £97m this summer has consigned the German forward to the bench this season, but Dortmund nevertheless appear to be interested in him.
