Boca Juniors beat Tigre to clinch second spot in group


BUENOS AIRES, May 7 (Xinhua) — Mario Benedetto and Luis Vazquez scored in each half as Boca Juniors won 2-0 at Tigre in their final match of the Argentine Primera Division regular season on Saturday.

Benedetto put the visitors ahead with a close-range strike just before halftime and Vazquez doubled the lead with a cool 65th-minute finish after combining with Cristian Medina.

The result left Boca second in the 14-team group, a point behind Estudiantes, while Tigre are third, seven points further back.

Earlier, Independiente secured a 3-0 home victory over Huracan courtesy of goals from Alan Sonora, Juan Cazares and Leandro Fernandez.

In other Argentine Primera Division fixtures on Saturday, Rosario Central won 3-1 at home to Estudiantes and Arsenal Sarandi prevailed 2-1 at Aldosivi.
