KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 — Both Terengganu FC II and Penang FC teams were fined by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Disciplinary Committee after their players were involved in a brawl at the Terengganu Menteri Besar Cup’s match on Feb 10.
FAM Disciplinary Committee deputy chairman Datuk Che Mokhtar Che Ali, in a statement today, said Terengganu FC were fined RM10,000 while Penang FC, RM5,000 following the incident at Stadium Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah, Kuala Terengganu.
Che Mokhtar said the decisions, which could not be appealed, were arrived at during the seventh meeting of the 2021-2025 term at Wisma FAM, Kelana Jaya yesterday (Feb 24) which also saw the two teams being given stern warnings and heavier punishments would be meted out if they repeat the same offence.
He said the offence clearly violated Article 54 of the FAM Disciplinary Code read together with Article 74, second and third paragraphs of the same code Code due to failure to maintain good behaviour when the players fought during the match resulting in injuries.
Not only that, Che Mokhtar informed that the committee also imposed punishments on two Terengganu FC players, namely, Muhd Aqil Irfanuddin Mohd Sabri and Mohammad Ridzuan Mohd Razali and two Penang FC import players, Endrick Dos Santos Parafita and Anselmo Arruda Da Silva.
Che Mokhtar said Muhd Aqil, who was found to have provoked Endrick, was suspended for one month from any footballing activities effective Feb 24-March 25 and fined RM2,000.
He said Mohammad Ridzuan, who was punished for his violent behaviour when he kicked and punched the face of the opposition team player, Muhammad Adib Abdul Ra’op causing a bloody nose, was suspended for two months from any footballing activities effective Feb 24-April 24 and fined RM4,000.
For Endrick, Che Mokhtar said the Penang FC player, who behaved violently by punching Muhd Aqil in the back, was suspended for two weeks from Feb 24-March 9 and fined RM1,000.
Meanwhile, Anselmo who gave Mohammad Ridzuan a flying kick was suspended a month from Feb 24-March 25 and fined RM3,000.
The fight between the players of the two teams occurred at the end of the first half.
