BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) — Marseille and Argentina international striker Dario Benedetto revealed on Tuesday that he is set to return to former club Boca Juniors.
The 31-year-old is scheduled to arrive in his homeland on Thursday to sign a deal that will reportedly run until 2025.
“I always said that I would come back one way or another and I’ve kept my word,” Benedetto told Argentina’s Onda Cero radio station.
“I will be a fan my whole life and as a player I have the opportunity to come back now. That makes me very happy.”
Benedetto, who has been capped five times for Argentina, made 69 appearances for Boca before his 16 million-euro move to Marseille in 2019.
The center forward scored just 17 goals in 71 outings for the French club and has spent the past six months on loan at Spain’s Elche.
