BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) — Atletico Tucuman extended its lead at the top of Argentina’s Primera Division on Tuesday with a 4-0 home win over Barracas Central.

Cristian Menendez opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before Ramiro Ruiz, Joaquin Pereyra and Mateo Coronel added second-half goals as Atletico Tucuman secured its ninth win of the campaign.

Atletico now has 32 points from 15 games and a three-point lead over second-placed Gimnasia. Barracas Central is 22nd in the 28-team standings with 17 points.

Gimnasia earlier missed the chance to stay within touching distance of the leader when it was held to a goalless home draw by Aldosivi.

In Tuesday’s only other Primera Division fixture, Patronato drew 0-0 at home to Argentinos Juniors.
