August 2, 2021 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – Atlanta United FC News Release
ATLANTA – Atlanta United today announced it has named Georgia O’Donoghue Vice President of Business Operations. O’Donoghue recently served as Atlanta United’s Director of Strategy and Operations, and originally joined AMB Sports & Entertainment in 2017. She will lead integrated marketing, strategy and operations for the club, and will report to Atlanta United President, Darren Eales.
“Georgia has played a vital role in our organization since Atlanta United’s inaugural season and it’s my pleasure to promote her to the position of Vice President,” Eales said. “While Georgia has an acute awareness of the role’s day-to-day responsibilities, it became apparent during the interview process that her potential extends much further than the execution of vital tasks on our business side. We have an abundance of talent within our organization and Georgia is a prime example of the possibilities our organization provides its associates to develop their careers.”
Prior to joining Atlanta United, O’Donoghue held several customer-relation and fan-centric roles. She led the Fan Experience group at AMB Sports & Entertainment, partnering with stadium operators to continuously innovate the event day experience. She also spent two years as a strategist for LiquidHub, consulting with companies to find solutions to their gaps in employee and customer journeys. In addition, O’Donoghue started her career with several years in digital strategy and audience acquisition for startup HealthiNation and CNN.com in New York City.
“I’m truly honored for the opportunity to be named Vice President of Business Operations and I cannot thank the organization enough for showing its faith in me,” O’Donoghue said. “It’s important for me to ensure that we continue to build off the unprecedented success we have sustained over the last five years, but to also look for new opportunities of growth as we enter our next chapter. Our passionate and loyal supporter base is what makes us a leading club within Major League Soccer, and I’m looking forward to taking on a greater role to ensure those voices are heard as we continue to build Atlanta United into a global brand.”
A graduate from the University of Georgia, O’Donoghue lives in Buckhead with her husband Brendan, and their son Michael. She replaces Catie Griggs, who left Atlanta United earlier this month and was recently named President of Business Operations for the Seattle Mariners, becoming the only woman to hold a “president” title role among Major League Baseball’s 30 clubs.
