Experienced players are hard to find and, if found, they are also remarkably expensive.
While fans clamour for the vibrant and new young players on the block, the experienced players always provide the foundations, ensuring the ship is always steered in the right direction.
They are the captains, the leaders and the faces the young players turn to when their spark has been extinguished on the field by the opposition’s own experienced players.
Mikel Arteta probably wishes he had more players of this description as Arsenal failed to qualify for European competition for the first time in 25 years.
Unfortunately for Arteta, he could be set to lose experienced defender Hector Bellerin, who has allegedly said he wants to leave North London to join Serie A champions Inter Milan, according to FourFourTwo.
The Spanish right back came through the ranks at Arsenal, joining their Under-18s side from Barcelona in 2011.
He has represented the Gunners in various competitions, making over 183 Premier League appearances for the club.
The marauding right-back was allegedly close to agreeing a deal to join PSG last season, but any interest from the French giants is all but over after they signed Achraf Hakimi from Inter this summer.
It is believed the Inter have segmented their right back options to Bellerin and Denzel Dumfries, who has impressed many with his box-to-box performances for the Netherlands during Euro 2020.
Bellerin’s contract at Arsenal does not expire until 2023 but he did find his game time limited at the back end of last term.
